Bodyweight strength training is strength work where your own body is the load: push-ups, squats, lunges, planks and pull-ups. The trainer picks an easier or harder version of each exercise, so the same movement works in your first week and a year later, without a gym or weights.
This kind of strength training suits people who train at home, travel a lot or want to master body control before moving to a barbell. Early sessions focus on position and breathing; later the trainer adds repetitions, slower tempo or single-leg and single-arm variations. Many trainers also put together a separate programme for women or for beginners.
Before you start, ask whether sessions take place outdoors, in a hall or over video call, and which simple tools, such as a resistance band or a mat, you will need. Ask as well how the trainer measures progress and whether you get a written plan to follow on your own during the week.
