Acroyoga (2)

Acroyoga is practised in pairs or small groups and combines yoga, acrobatics and teamwork with a partner. One person is the base, the other the flyer, and a third is often the spotter. An acroyoga instructor teaches how to carry weight safely, how to hold balance and how to communicate clearly with your partner.

Acroyoga suits people looking for playful training, wanting to improve balance and core strength, or hoping to learn something new together with a partner. A beginner does not need to be flexible or acrobatic: the first classes practise simple poses close to the ground, and transitions come later. You do not have to bring a partner, as pairs are formed in the group.

Before your first session, ask whether the class is meant for beginners, whether partners rotate and whether a spotter is present. Find out as well whether practice takes place indoors or outdoors in summer, what clothing is recommended and whether the class includes a calm part, such as partner massage or stretching.
